After graduating in graphic design from the University of Architecture in Ho Chi Minh City, Le Lam Nhat Huy (30 years old, living in the Go Vap district) like many other students, has experienced many fields related to the profession. However, he soon realized that he should do something separately, not follow the crowd.

In September 2024, while surfing a social network, the 9X guy happened to see an article about Pompom art, then began to learn and “fall in love” from there. Pompom is a way to shape monochromatic wool rolls into a round block, then create a very meticulous pet and cartoon characters.

According to Huy, Pompom art has long been formed and developed in European countries, appearing on woolen hats. It is known as the ruffled fruit in apparel. In recent years, this art has been created by artists in Japan in the shape of animals and cartoon characters.

“Pompom has a special feature compared to normal knitting patterns in that, instead of just knitting the outer shell, and then stuffing cotton inside, they can shape it right on an object. That helps the product. more durable products, displayed in the house or anywhere for a long time”, the 9X artist confided.

In the first time pursuing this job, the young man encountered many difficulties because this art had not been done by anyone. Nhat Huy had to stay up all night to study materials from books, newspapers and the Internet to learn how. In addition, the familiar raw material used is cotton, which makes the products made rough and unsatisfactory.

Some Pompom products made by Mr. Huy (Photo: Nguyen Vy).

“Luckily I found acrylic wool yarn. This is a fabric containing at least 85% pure acrylonitrile, has high elasticity, good heat resistance, and is affordable. I used it as the main material for Pompom and maintaining the amount of yarn imported every month,” Huy said.

Returning home in August 2023, Nhat Huy officially seriously pursued this job. When posting the first products online, the 9X guy received many compliments and positive feedback from customers.

To complete a product, the artisan takes from 30 minutes to 3 days, depending on the size and complexity. The price of each product ranges from 60,000 VND to 2 million VND.(1$=25,000 VND)

“All 3 steps are important, especially the trimming of the product to match the real sample. This job requires the worker to focus on analyzing the main characteristics of the sample and constantly editing to perfection. The process of wrapping wool is the factor that determines the position of the color patches arranged on the pompom,” Huy shared.

If unfortunately damages a detail, the maker will have to do it all over again (Photo: Nguyen Vy).

Nhat Huy confided that he always sets goals to work with his heart. Each product is carefully made by him, investing in the best materials. Gradually, there is trust from the community, more orders are coming. Many people in the community who love to play wool also come to him to buy materials and learn how to knit.

Recently, Mr. Huy has also cooperated with a publishing house in the UK to publish the book Pompom – Angles in this art. The book has been published in many countries, and translated into languages such as English, German, Finnish,…

In 2023, Nhat Huy was also invited to teach knitting at the Ho Chi Minh City Women’s Cultural House. Here, spreading his passion to many people, Huy has never missed a lesson and is very dedicated to guiding each person.

Nhat Huy wishes to spread Pompom art to many young people (Photo: Nguyen Vy).

“The class includes both adults and children. The funniest part is that after the class, everyone completes at least one product and is excited to take pictures. It can be said that this is a subject that helps everyone relax after the class. working day, practice more perseverance and meticulousness”, 9X guy said.

Not only creating a high income from the business of wool yarn, and Pompom products on online shopping and teaching applications, Nhat Huy also has a youtube channel with more than 15,000 followers, daily sharing a lot of useful knowledge. useful. In the near future, artisan 9X plans to write one more book about Pompom, spreading this art to more people.

Leaving The City To Return To His Hometown To Grow Succulents, The Young Dak Nong Earns Hundreds Of Millions Of Dollars A Month

In a space of nearly 500m2 in the heart of Gia Nghia city (Dak Nong), thousands of stone lotus pots with all kinds of different species thrive.

The owner of this succulent garden is Nguyen Hoang Luan (SN 1995), who once decided to drop out of university after realizing that the university environment was not suitable for him.

Luan said that before entering university, he spent a lot of time on computers. I thought I had a passion for information technology, so after graduating from high school, Luan entered a university and studied in this field.

However, after 2 years at university, Luan decided to quit to find another direction because he realized that the major he pursued was not suitable for him.

Nguyen Hoang Luan shared: “A lot of people in my family opposed my decision to leave school at that time. But if I study a subject that I’m not passionate about, I don’t have love, it’s really difficult. So I determined to stop. During this time, I began to learn about growing succulents to earn money to support myself.”

After leaving school, Luan began to learn about growing succulents for a living (Photo: Dang Duong).

Luan quit school, used nearly 5 million VND that he saved to go to Da Lat city (Lam Dong) to learn the process of growing succulents. After a period of apprenticeship, Luan used the remaining money to import succulents for planting and trading.

The business of young men starts from small tables, placed on sidewalks, in crowded places.

This guy’s initial difficulties were not only in terms of capital, technology, finding quality sources or the number of customers was not high, but also people’s apprehensive eyes for him.

Luan shared the first time, working while learning and drawing experience, along with direct sales, Luan also collected and imported many new varieties from abroad to meet the needs of the market.

Especially, from the initial opposition, Luan received encouragement from his parents and the support of his sister. After 6 years, the young man has developed a stone lotus garden with nearly 500 varieties with thousands of lotus pots.

In the past three years, the demand for playing succulents has increased. Luan imported more varieties of succulents from abroad for sale, and at the same time developed mutant and high-value succulents in the market.

A type of mutated lotus with high value on the market (Photo: Dang Duong).

“Stone lotus here has many types, meeting the needs of flower playing from popular to high-end. There are stone lotus plants that cost only a few thousand dong, but there are also pots of 3-4 million dong because the trees are old. large or mutant varieties, difficult to breed,” Luan said.

Up to now, Luan has customers in almost all provinces and cities across the country, even retailing to foreign countries. Currently, Luan’s garden provides hundreds of stone lotus pots of all kinds to the market every day. The succulent garden also helps Luan have a monthly revenue of more than 100 million VND.

Luan’s lotus garden creates stable jobs for 3 other workers (Photo: Dang Duong)

Not only bringing a high income for himself, Dak Nong’s lotus garden also creates stable jobs for 3 other workers , with a salary of 6-7 million VND/month.

Nguyen Hoang Luan said that he did not regret leaving university to grow succulents (Photo: Dang Duong).

Looking back on the past journey, Luan said: “For me, giving up a major that I have no passion for, no love is the right decision. If at that time I was not decisive, I tried to hold on. With university, perhaps there won’t be a stone lotus garden like today.”

How To Get Permanent Marker Off Of Plastic

That little bottle of nail polish remover sitting inside every girl’s makeup kit can actually work wonders when it comes to getting marker ink off of plastic surfaces. The chemical formulation has minimal amounts of acetone in it and can work following the same principle as rubbing alcohol.

Gently pour a few drops of the nail polish remover over the stain on any plastic surface. Then use a damp washcloth or paper towel to soak up the excess liquid. Keep tapping gently over the stained area until all of the liquid is soaked up, and the marker stain has also vanished along with it.

Some Factors Keep in Mind

Removing a permanent marker stain can be pretty straightforward, but there are certain hazards to the methods as well. Especially when you use chemical formulations, be careful not to exceed the safety limit.

To keep your plastic surface intact, try applying the chemical formulation like acetone on a very minimal concentration on an inconspicuous area before attempting to rub over the ink. If you see that the plastic surface loses color or gets distorted, switch to a lower concentration.

In the case of rubbing alcohol, a higher concentration generally means more potential to remove stains. But beware not to get a formula that is too concentrated. As a rule of thumb, get something around a 90% grading.

A safer option is to avoid chemicals all in all and switch to more homestead methods like the dry-erase marker. Nail polish removers are good, too, since they are non-toxic and non-irritant to the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do I remove marker from whiteboard using these process?

In theory, yes! the same processes as mentioned above should work equally well for both whiteboards and plastic surfaces. Most home-brewed methods like hairspray, nail polish remover, etc., should be potent enough to remove a permanent marker from a whiteboard.

However, whiteboards surfaces are not always made of plastic. Sometimes they contain melamine or some other reflective material on the surface. In that case, take caution in using any chemicals that may damage the whiteboard.

Especially the reactive chemicals such as the baking soda method, hydrogen peroxide, and magic eraser sponge might not bode well with whiteboards made out of materials other than plastic.

Otherwise, the process and methods for cleaning whiteboards are more or less the same as that of wiping out a marker from plastic surfaces. The most commonly used technique is the dry-erase marker method discussed at the beginning of this article.

Q: Which one is the easiest method to remove a plastic stain?

While there is no standardized method to carry out the removal of permanent marker ink from plastic surfaces, there are some processes that are most commonly used. Each different type of surface works best with a specific technique.

In the case of plastic surfaces, one of the most popular and widely accepted methods of removing marker stains is by using ‘toothpaste with baking soda or lemon juice’.

This method, albeit a bit hazardous if handled without caution, can be the most effective yet easy one. Just keep the proportions of the ingredients under strict measurements and take necessary precautions before handling the baking soda jelly.

You should see that the method works like magic and is as simple as one, two, three!

As an added step, you can use hand gloves while handling the baking soda jelly so that it does not come in contact with your skin. Also, remember to use only white or mint-colored toothpaste for maximum effect. Gel-based toothpaste formulations won’t be of much use in this method.

Final Thoughts

Whether it’s a mistake while labeling a plastic container or simply an accidental stroke while writing with a marker, having a stain from a permanent marker on any unwanted surface can be an eyesore. But now you know that all permanent marker ink is not necessarily permanent!

You can easily remove marker from plastic surfaces using designated methods. Some very innovative home-brewed methods are somewhat effective in most cases.

Our compilation to get permanent marker stain off plastic should be comprehensive enough to let you know about the numerous ways of removing such ink.

Just don’t forget to take necessary precautions and adhere to specific guidelines when using slightly hazardous chemicals. Always remember – safety first!

How To Write A Letter Of Request: Tips & Sample Template

1Format your letter like you would format a business letter. Writing your letter in the proper, professional format of a business letter will help you make a positive first impression. In the top left corner of your letter, state your full address, followed by the date, and then the full address of the recipient. Write your letter in a legible font, such as 12-point Times New Roman or Calibri, and single-space your letter, adding an extra space between paragraphs.[1] X Research source

You may also include a subject line after the recipient’s address, but this is optional.

Some people prefer to receive hard copies of your letter, but in some instances, sending your letter of request as an email may be acceptable. In this case, you won’t need to include the full address of the recipient, but still include your contact info.

2Start the letter with a salutation. Begin the main text of your letter with a proper, respectful greeting. Generally, letters of request begin with “Dear” or “To.”

If you know the person you are writing to, you can use their first name, e.g. “Dear Tim.” Otherwise, use the person’s last name and the proper title, (eg. Dr., Mr., Ms. or Mrs.).

If you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to, use a salutation like “Dear Sir or Madam,” or “To Whom It May Concern.”

3Write an introductory paragraph. In the first paragraph of any letter of request, introduce yourself, and clearly but briefly state the purpose of the letter. For instance, you might say, “I am writing this letter in hopes that you will consider making a contribution to the Boston Citizen’s Charity Fund.”[2] X Research source

If you have had any previous interaction with the recipient of your letter, the opening paragraph is also a good place to remind them of the nature of your association or the contact you’ve had in the past.

For example: “I am a student in your drama 101 class,” “I’m the president of the Boston Citizens Charity Fund, an organization you’ve generously donated to for the last 10 years,” or “I contacted you last month about the possibility of a class trip to your amusement park.”

Establishing a connection may promote feelings of affinity with you that might increase the chances of your request being granted.

4Write a body paragraph. In your body paragraph (or paragraphs), provide additional context and information about what you’re asking for. Whereas in your intro you provided a basic overview of the purpose of your letter, the body is where you will get more detailed about what exactly you are requesting.[3] X Research source This is your opportunity to spell out exactly what you’re asking for and make your case for why your request should be granted.

Be thorough but brief when asking for what you want. Clearly explain what it is you are requesting and why the matter is worthy of consideration, but don’t share your life story.

Leave the reader with no doubt as to what you want. For example: “I’m hoping you’ll consider repeating your generous contribution this year,” or “I’d like to respectfully request an opportunity to resubmit this paper.”

Be factual, but be courteous, and keep emotions in check. For instance, opt for “I was very disappointed when I saw my grade. I would appreciate the opportunity to retake the exam” over “I’m so mad about this grade and I want a do-over!”

5Write a concluding paragraph. In your concluding paragraph, make your recipient aware of any time constraints you face, if any. Be sure to also express your gratitude for their consideration of your request.[4] X Research source

For example, if you’re writing to request information or a meeting with someone that must occur before a certain date to be of any use to you, politely make that clear in the conclusion.

Even if your recipient ultimately does not grant your request, the fact that they have taken the time to read your letter and consider your wishes is worthy of thanks.

6Close the letter politely. Finally, your letter needs an appropriate and polite closing. Good options include “Respectfully,” “Sincerely,” or “Best regards,” followed by your name.[5] X Research source

If you’re sending a physical letter, leave 4 lines of empty space between the closing and your typed name. In this space, sign your name with a pen.

If you’re enclosing any materials with your letter, insert this information after your closing, e.g. “Enclosures: 2.”

Finalizing the Letter

1Set the letter aside for a few days before sending it. Rather than immediately sending your letter after finishing it, put it aside for a little while—a few days, if time permits. Then reread it and see if it needs any editing. The time away will give you a fresh perspective on it when you return to it.[6] X Research source

Try not to write your letter of request at the last minute. However, if you don’t have the time to let the letter incubate for a few days, enlist a friend to read it over for you before sending it off. They’re likely to catch errors you may have missed.

2Edit and revise the letter. Give the letter a close reading to make sure your writing is clear, flows well, and accomplishes the goals you set out to accomplish. Make any necessary revisions.

A good way to assess your writing is to read your letter out loud. This will help you to notice any missing words and generally get a sense of whether the language flows well and strikes the appropriate tone.

Try reading your letter backwards. This will help you catch grammatical or spelling errors you may have skimmed over while reading straight through.[7] X Research source

3Proofread the final draft. After you’ve made your edits, give the letter one more look to catch any spelling and grammar mistakes that you might have missed the first time. Even if you’ve only made minor edits, proofread, proofread, proofread! Bad spelling and grammar can damage an otherwise well-written letter.

It’s a good idea to have someone else read your letter for this purpose as well. It’s much easier to overlook your own errors.[8] X Research source

4Send your letter. If you’re sending a physical letter, be sure to include a current and professional-looking stamp. In the top left of the envelope, put your name, title (if applicable), and return address. In the bottom middle, include the recipient’s name and address. Make sure you keep a copy for your records until the matter is settled.[9] X Research source

Preparing to Write

1Brainstorm the big ideas. In order to write a clear, effective letter, it is crucial that you have a clear sense of your goals and the letter’s purpose. Try journaling your thoughts, or talking it through with a friend or aloud to yourself.[10] X Trustworthy Source Purdue Online Writing Lab Trusted resource for writing and citation guidelines Go to source

If you’re struggling to begin brainstorming, get 3 blank pieces of paper and label them “why I am writing this letter,” “the purpose of this letter,” and “other thoughts.”

Without worrying too much about details, take a few minutes and list your thoughts about the letter on these 3 pieces of paper.

2Consider your audience. Essential to setting the right tone in your letter is understanding the audience you’re writing for. After your initial brainstorm, on another piece of paper, write down what you know about the recipient of your letter.[11] X Trustworthy Source University of North Carolina Writing Center UNC’s on-campus and online instructional service that provides assistance to students, faculty, and others during the writing process Go to source

For example, what is this person’s position, and how can they be of help? Will this person be making a final decision about your request, or making a decision about whether or not to pass your request on to a higher authority?

It’s also a good idea to consider the recipient’s knowledge of the topic you’re writing about. If your reader is not well-versed in the topic you are writing about, this will necessitate a different type of writing (i.e., use of simpler language and the inclusion of more background information) than if your recipient is already an expert on the matter.

3Make an outline. Finally, before you begin actually composing the letter, create an outline to organize your thoughts into a logical, coherent order. This will keep you from jumping around too much when drafting your letter, making it easier for your reader to follow what you’re saying.[12] X Research source

Consider the main points you want to make and the secondary points you’ll use to support those points. Make sure your ideas are organized in a way that will make sense to your reader.

In your body paragraph, explain why you believe the ship should be preserved, addressing its significance not only to yourself, but its historical significance as well. Lean on both emotional persuasion (but avoiding becoming too passionate, as this may deter your reader) and on facts pertaining to the ship’s history. This combination of personal and emotional persuasion as well as historical research is sure to affect your reader. Finally, close your letter by thanking the reader for their time, and respectfully signing off.

QuestionWhat other way can I use to begin the starting sentence?wikiHow Staff EditorStaff AnswerIf “I am writing this letter to…” feels too stiff, brainstorm other ways you can introduce yourself and your purpose while still coming across respectful and concise. You might begin with “Hello, I hope you’re well,” or by addressing the weather or time of year: “I hope you’re managing to stay warm in the cold February weather,” or “Happy New Year!” If you’re on casual terms with the recipient, formality may be less important, but if you don’t know the recipient, you can still spice things up without sacrificing politesse: for instance, you may try something like, “As a lover of history and a strong believer in the need to preserve our town’s vibrant lore, I was saddened to hear of the impending demolition of the old clock tower. I felt compelled to reach out to you today…”
